the Zambian Government has awarded the tender for the supply, delivery, installation
and commissioning of Terrestrial Digital Migration to Beijing-based Star
Software Technology Company also known as Star Times at a total cost of about
$220 million.

And star times chairman Pang Xin Xing, Star Times says the award
sets the pace to accelerate Zambia’s terrestrial digital migration by the stipulated
deadline of 2015.
Mr pang says the company will bring its expertise in terrestrial
digital migration to Zambia at par with China and many other African countries
where it has a successful track record.
Star Times, mainly involved in large-scale system integration,
digital TV network construction and operation has since 2007 established its
footprint in 16 African countries.
The company
has launched digital TV operation services in Rwanda, Nigeria, Tanzania, Kenya,
Uganda, Burundi, Central Africa, Guinea (Conakary) and Mozambique.
Star Times’
footprint Africa covers a population of
560 million people, more than half of the total population on the continent.
Zambia
joins Ghana, Sudan, Kenya, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Ivory Coast
who have sought the services of StarTimes for terrestrial digital migration.
Mr Pang has
stressed that The fact that the company has built six uplink stations and 65
transmission stations, 2 digital TV play-out centers in Africa, it gives the
company greater confidence of successfully implementing terrestrial digital
migration in Zambia.”
He adds the
digital migration will enhance the film and broadcasting sector in Zambia,
growing an impressive value chain as evidenced by its mobile multimedia
deployment in other African countries.

in 1988 with headquarter in Beijing is a certified Hi-Tech enterprise
with a special honor of being the only Chinese Government certified enterprise
to contract foreign projects in the Radio & TV industry based on its
integrative technical strength in IP network and DTV technologies.
