The Vatican applauds Zambia’s democratic credentials, Christian resolve


The Vatican Has Praised Zambia For Its Progressive Resolve To Uphold Democracy And Christian Values As Key Foundations Of The Nation-State.

Addressing Lt.Col Bizwayo Nkunika After He Presented His Credentials As Ambassador Extraordinary And Plenipotentiary To The Holy See, The Vatican Secretary Of State, Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone Said The Pope Is Impressed With Zambia’s Political Leaders’ Commitment To Upholding Values Of Democracy Over The Years.
Cardinal Bertone Says As Far As Politics Are Concerned, The Vatican Is Happy With Zambia Especially In Respect Of The Peaceful Elections That Have Taken Place Recently Adding That The Country Has Demonstrated Exemplary Character Of Peace And Stability.
The Cardinal Says The Vatican Is Aware Of Zambia’s Unique Position As A Christian Nation And Encouraged Its Leaders And People To Continue Advancing The Values Of Christianity.
The Vatican Has Pledged To Continue Working With Zambia At The Diplomatic Level Through Its Apostolic Nuncio In Lusaka.

He Says The Vatican State’s Areas Of Focus In Its Cooperation With Zambia Include Health, Education And Moral Spheres Among Others.
Lt. Col. Nkunika, Who Is Resident In London As Zambia’s High Commissioner To The United Kingdom, Says It Was Great Honour And Unique Opportunity Of A Lifetime To Present Credentials To The Pope And Converse With Him.
The High Commissioner, Who Arrived In Rome, Italy On December 10, Was Accompanied By His Wife Royce, Defence Advisor, General Martin Mumbi, Press Secretary Amos Chanda, And Alick Banda, First Secretary-Protocol At The Zambian Embassy In Rome.
The Delegation Later Paid A Courtesy Call On Zambia’s Ambassador To Italy, Frank Mutubila Who Hosted Dinner For The Visitors.
On December 11, The Delegation Met The Vatican Secretary For Relations With States,  Archibishop Dominique Mamberti,  Archbishop Giovanni Angelo Becciu And The Pope’s Chief Of Protocol, Monsignor Jose Avelino.
