Gov't casts the blame of fuel shortage on the damage caused on the TAZAMA oil pipeline in tazania

Government has apologized to motorists for fuel shortage but has cast the blame on the damage caused on the TAZAMA oil pipeline in Tanzania.

To this effect the government has assured the nation that the situation will normalize in the next 3 to 4days period.

Energy, mines and minerals and water development minister Christopher yaluma says the country has three days stocks of both petrol and diesel and this will be reinforced by another stock of 3 days as pumping at indeni has resumed.

Mr. Yaluma says the damage in the TAZAMA oil pipeline resulted in the shutdown of one of the 8 inch and 12 inch pipelines adding that contingency measures have put in place to ensure that supply of the commodity is not disturbed again.

Mr. Yaluma who was speaking at a press briefing in Lusaka today says the country has so far received enough fuel stocks which came in by the use of tracks and more fuel is expected to reach the country via dar-es-salaam.

Meanwhile Mr. Yaluma has also put the blame on transportation challenges being faced by oil marketing companies who have failed to deliver the commodity to far flung areas such as mansa after they were awarded tenders to do so.

He however says all the areas like Kitwe will have fuel by tonight and other areas will be receiving  in the next three to four days to come
