andrew banda fails to appear before the government investigative team again


Former republican president rupiah Banda’s son Andrew this morning failed to appear before the government joint investigative task force team.

Mr Banda is however expected to appear before the government joint investigative task force team tomorrow morning at 9hours.

Mr Banda who was suppose to appear before the government joint investigative team at 10hours is believed to failed to appear before the team due to what his lawyer Sakwiba sikoba called as unforeseen circumstances.

And Mr. Sikota has also assured the government joint investigative team that his client will appear before them tomorrow.

Government joint investigative team spokesperson namukolo kasumpa disclosed this development to journalist this mourning at the former task force offices that went to wait for Mr. Banda to appear before the team.
Mr banda is assisting the government joint investigative team in a matter in connection with a contract which was issued to an Italian contracting company fratelli rockey which the previous government gave a contract to construct the pedicle raod in luapula province.

Mr banda is alleged to have solicited for a 2percent on the contract and any other future contracts which fratelli rocky would get from government.

Meanwhile Mrs. kasumpa says the Government Joint Investigations Team has formally charged and arrested two Nyimba Farmer‘s Association employees for theft of FRA maize valued at twelve million nine hundred and twenty five thousand Kwacha.

She says Enock Longwani aged 36 of Boma compound, an assistant Project Officer at the Nyimba Farmer’s Association and Mr. Micheal Chipepo Chuzu aged 27 of Riverside Compound also an employee of the Association have been jointly charged with theft by Servant Contrary to Section 277 of the Penal code, Cap 87 of the Laws of Zambia.

Mrs kasumpa adds that the two have also been charged with Obtaining Money by False Pretence Contrary to Section 309 of the Penal Code, Cap 87 of the Laws of Zambia.

She says Particulars of the offence are that Mr Longwani and Mr. Chuzu purported to have supplied maize to FRA when in fact not and received part payment for the same unsupplied maize.

Mrs kasumpa says the two are currently in police custody at Nyimba Police Station and are scheduled to appear in the petauke Magistrate court on Monday 28th may 2012.

In a related development Mrs. kasumpa has disclosed that the Owner of the seized Fuso Fighter motor vehicle Registration number ALC 2743 Mr. Joseph Kalenga chairman of Kavungo Co-operative in Mbala District who was at large has been apprehended.
